The Replica Coffin of St Cuthbert and Prayers for Peace
The pilgrims will be journeying with a replica of the coffin of St Cuthbert.
This coffin was designed, interpreted and crafted voluntarily by Jane Crawford of Daisy Arts and Colin Handy. It is almost exactly the same dimensions as the original. It is therefore substantial, heavy and will be difficult to carry for very long. More information and activities can be found here
The Pilgrims will be holding in thought and prayer all of those who are refugees and suffering persecution. The pilgrims have been particularly struck by the parallels between the Viking incursions and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Children may wish to write their own prayers for peace. These could be placed within, or written inside a mini St Cuthbert’s Coffin
The Mystery of St Cuthbert’s Cross
St Cuthbert’s Cross is one of the most well preserved Anglo Saxon artefacts in the UK. Today it is housed in the Great Kitchen in Durham Cathedral.

A Journey of Faith and Prayer
May God make safe for us each step
May God make us one on our journey
May God make clear the path ahead
And may He take us in the clasp of his own two hands
The Lindisfarne Gospels Pilgrimage is being undertaken by Christian pilgrims from the North East and as far away as Cornwall. The pilgrimage will undoubtedly be challenging and rewarding in equal measure. If you wish to know more about the pilgrims, pray for them as they travel or gain insight into the pilgrimage itself please see the Lindisfarne Gospel Pilgrimage Prayer Diary
