How to Make a Donation of Books to the RRC
Thank you for considering making a donation of books to the RRC. We like to work closely with our members to ensure that our shelves are kept up to date and relevant – and we’ve made some exciting additions to our stock from books donated to us over the years, but because we add new items to our collections all the time, only a small percentage of the books offered to us are suitable. To help us ensure that we can provide the best home for your items please have a look at the following guidance.
Please let us know in advance.
Due to space limitations, we are not able to accept donations without prior arrangement. If you are making a donation we would like to agree the date when you can bring your items through so we can take appropriate care of them. The more notice you can provide the better!
We rarely take books over 10 years of age.
If a book is over 10 years old, the chances are that we already have it or it has been superseded by something published more recently. Some older items may be of help to us but if the majority of your donation is over ten years old, and we have most of the titles already, can we suggest you consider offering your collection to Book Aid who have several collection points in our region. Whatever their age, please don’t bring us books that are broken, stained, smell of tobacco or show any signs of mould.
The more information you provide, the better!
Everything in our stock is listed on our online catalogue. Any donation is checked against this list to see if we need it. You could check this for us before you contact us or you could give us a list of your donation titles. This way we can ensure that what you give us will be used and valued. We realise that this isn’t always possible but letting us know exactly what you have is always a great help.
We look forward to hearing from you.
