Celebrating 50 Years of the North East Religious Learning Resources Centre!
On Thursday 23rd October, the RRC marked its Golden Anniversary with special events at Cuthbert House, Durham and Church House, Percy Main, Newcastle.
Guests heard from Deputy Lord-Lieutenant Mrs Kate Simpson MBE, who reflected on the Centre’s remarkable contribution to education, training, and understanding across the North East and beyond. Founder Robin Minney spoke about the roots of Religious Education in British schools, while Rev. David Bryan highlighted the enduring inspiration of the Lindisfarne Gospels for the Centre’s mission.
At Church House, Canon Richard Bryant shared the story of the RRC’s development over five decades, and Dr Iain Shaw spoke of its continuing value as a rich and relevant resource for students today.
For 50 years, the RRC has supported learning about faith, culture, and belief — helping communities grow in understanding and respect. In an age of misinformation and division, that mission matters more than ever.
