The aim of this unit is to widen the children’s understanding of the Bible, its contents, presentation and importance to Christians.
Programme of Study to include:
Increasing awareness of the importance of the Bible.
Developing knowledge of which stories can be found in which Testament of the Bible?
Introducing the idea of the Bible as a library in one book.
Developing awareness that the Bible can be found worldwide and has been translated in to many languages.
The work of the Gideons and Bible Society. Mary Jones and her Bible.
Key Vocabulary: Bible, Old Testament, New Testament, Holy, Gospel
Key Experiences:
Opportunity to look at and handle many different Bibles.
Hear stories from both Testaments and know which is found where.
Look at the Bible as a library.
Key Questions:
Why is the Bible special?
Which Bible stories do you enjoy? Why?
Who uses the Bible? Why?
The Bible is in two parts which are different. Why/how are they different?
