In an article , written as part of a series, in the Guardian, Durham Priest Miranda Threlfall-Holmes discusses the way that Christians may make sense of the Bible in today’s world…
She uses the teachings of Christian theologian George Herbert to suggest that Christians should feed on the Bible in a way akin to the way a baby feeds on breast milk.
This article is to be recommended for teachers who are not sure about the way that Christians may use the Bible or who need more understanding about the place the Bible has in Christian daily life. It is an argument from a liberal perspective (Christians from a different perspective may argue that this position is too general and that the words of the Bible are to be understood literally) but this is a common position for many Christians today.
