The aim of this unit is to give pupils an opportunity to consider the concept of rules, to examine Christian rules for living and reflect upon their own lifestyle and the influences upon it.
Programme of Study to include:
An exploration of the concept of rules What? Why? How?
Who gives the rules?
The story of Moses receiving the 10 Commandments on Mount Sinai.
The Story of Jesus giving the New Commandment and illustrating it with the Parable of the Good Samaritan
Discussion about creating rules/laws and what would happen if we didn’t
Looking at the behaviour of Christians
How do they keep the rules?
Making the links between the events/stories recorded in the Bible and Christian belief
Key Vocabulary: Moses, Commandment, Mount Sinai, Covenant, Old and New Testament
Key Experiences:
To interview a Christian and ask questions about following the ‘rules’.

What are rules?
Why do we have rules?
Who makes the rules?
Is there a difference between rules and laws?
