There is an expectation that Holocaust Memorial Day will not only mark the Jewish experience of the Holocaust but that it will also link to other, more contemporary, genocides. This can raise questions for teachers, and others, on how best to address this issue. Which genocides to mark? Where do you start? Is it being done appropriately?

This interactive BBCiWonder article will take you through some of the key areas to consider when addressing genocides and their place in your curriculum. Key areas include:
    Never again
    The language of remembrance
    Painful memories
    Lessons to learn?
    Moving forward
‘The very least you can do’
    What more can we do?
    Where next?
