The aim of this unit is to emphasize Jesus’ skills as a great teacher, to consider carefully the messages of the parables and how they impact on the lives of practising Christians.
Programme of Study to include:
Exploring further the character of Jesus looking at Him as a great teacher
Jesus taught by example and through stories. He taught us about behaviour, attitudes and values. Briefly recap stories they already know e.g. The Good Samaritan, and introduce The Unforgiving Servant Mt 18: 23-34. The Widow’s Gift Mk12: 41-44.
Jesus taught about the relationship between God and humankind through The Prodigal Son Lk 15: 11-32, The Parable of The Sower Mt 13: 3-9, 18-23, Lk 8: 5-8, 11-15 The Workers in the Vineyard, Mt21: 1-16 And he gave us imagery of the Kingdom in The Pearl of Great Price, Mt13: 45-56, The Treasure Field, Mt 13: 44 and The Mustard Seed, Lk13: 18-19, Mk 4: 30-32,Mt 13: 31-32.
