Suppose you could meet God face to face (the Jewish and Christian traditions record that Moses was able to do this and lived to tell the tale to the people of Israel)… What would you say to God? What questions would you have?
Stephen Fry was asked that question and here is his response:
Students could:
1 View the video once just listening to the conversation.
2 View the video again, this time discerning the key points of Stephen Fry’s objections to God and noting them down.
3 In pairs look at the points they think Stephen is making – do they agree?
4 In the pairs consider:
a is Stephen Fry’s image of God one that Christian’s would recognise or accept?
b how might a Christian (or someone from another faith tradition) might respond to the points that they think Stephen Fry is making?
