At the request of our members we are experimenting with a collaborative planning initiative for RE. Do you want to be involved?

RE specialists are a rare breed. It is a luxury to be in a school where RE teachers can collaboratively plan their RE schemes with other specialists. Increasing workloads mean that making the time to prepare, and review, planning to ensure that it is of the best quality can be very difficult.

We are here to help! Using a process guide and templates developed by Hannah Walker at Monkwearmouth, we are trialling an online planning initiative where our members can work together virtually to plan a new unit or review an existing one. Here you can share their ideas, resources and the planning workload!

“A six hour module shared between three members of an online planning team means that once the overall aims and outcomes are decided each member of the team only has 2 lessons to plan each – reducing workload and increasing creativity three times over”

Each member of the group can personalise the collaborative unit to the ability range of their groups and any school-specific planning policies. The RRC will offer ongoing support to any planning group who wish us to by suggesting ideas/resources so ensuring that resources are always up to date.

In a time when workload seems to do nothing but increase, we can offer something that can increase productivity, creativity and quality yet still decrease the number of hours you will individually invest in the activity.

Please post topics in this forum and give details of what you’ll be looking at.
