The RRC is delighted to have a supportive partnership with Barnabas in Schools. They offer creative arts-based RE Days to primary schools to help them explore Christianity as a world faith and the Bible, and supports RE, PSE and SMSCE.

In the North-East they work in approximately 50 schools a year using the Barnabas RE Days to cover the major Christian festivals, and further themes such as ‘Who is my Neighbour?’ Each year, they add at least one new theme to our offering, which currently includes ‘What’s it Worth?’ (exploring attitudes to money), ‘What Price Peace?’ (attitudes to war, based on the First World War centenary) and ‘What makes a winner?’ (looking at sporting values).

Barnabas in Schools also offer professional training for teaching networks on themes including ‘Art and Spirituality’, ‘Teaching about Christianity’ and ‘Storytelling and Drama in RE’. Their national team is represented in the North-East by Chris Hudson (based in Morpeth), an experienced primary school teacher and trainer who has written over 20 books for the classroom.
