SUMMARY:Zoom event: Exploring humanism with Early Years children – made easy through an exciting new interactive digital tool
DESCRIPTION:The VAT of Belonging and Believing: Early Years Humanism Digital Tool is the outcome of a Culham St Gabriel’s funded project involving a team of advisors and early years practitioners working collaboratively to influence the quality of religion and worldviews education for Early Years pupils and educationalists nationally.\nDrawing on content from Gill Vaisey ( https://www.resourcescentreonline.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/_pda/Gill-Vaisey.pdf )’s Belonging and Believing project and books series, the tool ensures knowledge, understanding and engagement with humanism at an age-appropriate level.\nThe pedagogical approach of VAT in RE (Jan McGuire ( https://www.resourcescentreonline.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/_pda/Jan-McGuire.pdf ) 2020) has been embedded in the learning process.  This approach will support teachers in providing a deeper, richer experience of religion and worldviews education for their learners. It offers an easy and accessible method of exploring the lived experience of humanist beliefs, values and lifestyle for five-year old Wilf and his family.\n \nThese two approaches have been brought together by digital software expert Trudy Sore ( https://www.resourcescentreonline.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/_pda/Trudy-Sore.pdf ), using Genially as an interactive educational tool.\n \nJoin this session to learn more about using the tool and how it can help bring humanism to life for your Early Years pupils.\n \n“After meeting Wilf, a real boy and his family, the children in my reception cohort were completely engaged and eager for more. We use the bucket song, our class bucket, and the kindness of Wilf and his family most days to reinforce how to be nice. I always show the slides to help the children remember.”\nCharlotte Skinner, Reception teacher, Undy Primary School\n \n
