DESCRIPTION:Mathew Guest has just published Neoliberal Religion, Faith and Power in the Twenty-First Century*. In this accessible book, Mathew argues that contemporary Western culture has been formed by clear neoliberal economic principles and that these pervade every aspect of our lives including religion.  In the discussion of religion and worldviews the economic lens is often ignored and yet, according to Mathew’s research, this is a hugely significant, and often ignored area of critical engagement.\n \nIn this online event we will be in conversation with Mathew exploring what these neoliberal economic principles are and how are they manifest in faith.  Mathew will also be inviting critical thinking about whether these principles are a positive in the faith space and, if not, what might be done to challenge them?\n \nMathew Guest is Professor in the Sociology of Religion and Head of Department in the Department of Religion and Theology at Durham University.\n* Copies of Mat’s book are in the RRC or you can purchase it from all reputable retailers. \n
