SUMMARY:Zoom Event: Teaching Buddhism: Challenging Western Perspectives with Dr Robert Bluck
DESCRIPTION:The session for any teacher who wishes to explore and reframe their engagement with Buddhism from a non-Western perspective\n \nThe session with Dr Bluck will explore the following areas:\nWhat concerns you about the way Buddhism is often taught/presented?\nWhat might be a better way of framing our approach to the diverse family of traditions commonly grouped together as ‘Buddhism’?\nWhat would you like teachers and students to understand about your particular Buddhist worldview?\nDr Robert Bluck is a writer, Zen practitioner and meditation teacher. He became a Buddhist as a student, and has worked in higher education for over thirty years. While teaching world religions for the Open University, his doctoral research was adapted as British Buddhism: Teachings, Practice and Development (Routledge, 2006). A keen cyclist and birdwatcher, his novel Mr Woodreeve’s Reflection (Unbound, 2016) is set in rural Northumberland UK, where he lives with his wife and two identical cats.\n \nView the recording of the event here ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1dEW3QNZxY )\n
