There is a wide variety of Christian groups or denominations worldwide. There is also a growing number of home or house based Christian communities which do not come under the headings below but are nevertheless a significant part of the Christian faith community.
The following are addresses for places to visit in the North East and general guidelines on visiting different denominational places of worship. Each set of notes has been written with the assistance and approval of the denominations concerned. * Although the Quaker faith has its roots in traditional Christianity, and many Quakers would consider themselves to be Christian, there are many who do not. Consequently, we have listed 'Quaker' as both a religion in its own right and as a Christian denomination.
