Atisha Centre offers drop-in meditation classes in Darlington and the surrounding area - in Barnard Castle, Durham, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Richmond, Saltburn and Stockton - please phone us for details. Our meditation classes teach practical techniques to overcome stress, anxiety and depression in daily life, help sleep and improve relationships and peace of mind.

Atisha Centre also runs children's classes, and schools are welcome to visit the Centre or we can visit the school. Please contact us for more information. Please note that the summer term is an exceptionally busy time and we may not be able to fulfill all requests at this time.

For more detailed teachings on Buddhism, Atisha Centre runs the Foundation Programme which is an enrolment course, as well as regular retreats and guided meditations.

Visitors are always welcome to pop by, and advised to arrange a time in advance to make sure someone is available to show you round.

School parties are welcome to visit, please check with the guest department several weeks in advance for a good time. The monks (both male and female monastics are called monks in this tradition) will be happy to give a tour and answer any questions. They are also happy to visit schools within reasonable driving distance. There is no fixed charge for the Teaching, but donations are gratefully received.

Aruna Ratanagiri, Harnham Buddhist Monestery, is a Buddhist community on the borders of Scotland and England. The Abbot, Ajahn Munindo, was ordained by the late Venerable Ajahn Chah of Wat Nong Pah Pong in North East Thailand in 1975. The community comprises a monastic residence of about 8 Sangha members and an adjacent lay retreat facility known as Harnham Retreat House: www.harnhamretreathouse.org.uk. Visitors are welcome for most of the year. Visits by school parties are possible by arrangement. Any donations gratefully received.
